In a tournament riddled with unique challenges, including moving targets and treestand shots, Scott Archery and Custom Bow Equipment shooter Joseph Goza took to the Buckmasters Top Bow field with confidence, winning the competition and earning the $15,000 payout. Scott Archery and CBE teammate, Brandon Shehan (Scott Archery Longhorn Hunter, CBE TEK Hybrid Pro), finished the tournament in third place.
Having won Buckmasters the year prior, Goza, shooting the new Scott Ascent and CBE X4 Arrow Rest, was no stranger to the setup, as this is also his seventh Buckmasters Top Bow Indoor World Championship title.
“When shooting Buckmasters the most important thing to me is my release. That's why I choose to shoot the best release made, the Scott Ascent,” said Goza.
The Buckmasters Top Bow Indoor World Championship takes place every year as part of the annual Buckmasters Expo in Montgomery, AL. Set up unlike any other 3D tournament, Buckmasters features three preliminary rounds designed to seed the top 32 archers into the double elimination rounds. There, 4-18 rounds are executed to determine the top 12 finishers into the Top Bow bracket rounds.
“Buckmasters is the tournament I look forward to most every year,” said Shehan. “The top 32 competitors started head to head matches Friday evening and I was able win all my rounds to make it to the top four and shoot on Sunday. I’m really excited to be able to bring home a 3rd place finish.”
The three-day expo features over 300 exhibitors, activities for kids, concerts and more. Learn more about the expo and Top Bow tournament at buckmasters.com.
